The Credit issue is just one aspect of America's standing in the eyes of the world. Bush has pretty much delivered a self inflicted body blow when it comes to international politics... And then McCain just slammed the president of Spain for being a terrorist.. Apparently he thought Spain was in South America... And he wouldn't back down either... Having spent most of my life overseas, I can only wince at the paths we have chosen.Maybe it's time to listen to Robert Frost.

I think that in a few decades, people will look that what happened these days and say that this was the moment when the US definitely lost the World's leadership it has held since WWII.

From now on the world will clearly be multipolar. The US will be less and less able to impose its views on others and will need to compromise more often. That's not a bad thing for the USA and for the world. It is just a different world.

Good that you didnt put too much into UYG yesterday... today with the mighty $180 billion liquidity pump from central banks around the world in the morning, we rallied for an ENTIRE HOUR... before going to business as usual....

And the US Peso bonds are at a record low yield......
