Actually I was reading they were doing that even during the high times: 2005/2006. Compared to a loft in London, Miami is 'cheap' esp. when you compare the weather of the two :)

Now with asset pricing on the decline I expect an influx of foreign property owners mid 2008 to mid 2009. Gonna snap up some serious bargains relative to their buying power. Ah, it was only a decade ago the roles were reversed...

Well, if you continue along those lines, you will find many Europeans and Russians purchasing the excess Miami condominiums because of the lower prices and weaker dollar.

I thought of 1 more positive in the interim. That the world's economy is so strong that it will take the poor US along with it; I mean with a dying dollar our exports are dirt cheap ;) Essentially NYC is a haven for Europeans flying in for the weekend to shop and then fly right back out. So they might even help retail! Ok so thats up to 3 positives.

Let's see how the market handles the pre-announcements to come in next 4 weeks. If it ignores them, then I will say "well maybe it was all priced in", but just seems unbelievable we'd price in 5-6 years of excess credit in one 10% swoop? If so, it tells me the world economies ex-US are much stronger than an already bullish viewpoint I have....

I wish there was more positive points to say, but the facts are that, although the big splash might have passed, the ripples will continue for some time from all this housing/mortgage/credit/risk-pricing mess.
