When my son and I drove to New Orleans and back, we tried to get a hotel in Fresno, Merced and even Lodi.. Even the discount chains were over $115 per night. When I asked why it was that I could rent a room in S.F for the same price, he informed me that the area was considered "the Greater Bay area". I think I mentioned something about smelling sourdough and coffee in SF, and that the odors out here were more related to the herds of cattle along Hwy I-80. &lt;BR/&gt;&lt;BR/&gt;Anyway, interesting that everyone keeps noting how awful things are in CA, AZ, CO and NV as that's where all the big appreciation was. My feeling is that this is just the beginning for the other States as well. Todays news of course was the failure of a Kansas City bank. And that's the heart of teh agricultural belt. Also, keep in mind that CA produces 12% of the US's GNP... They said, the real estate market is showing signs of weakness in India.
