If I could, I'd short something chock full of strip malls and retailers/restauranters as clients, but it would take a ton of research to go through all the commercial REITs and see who owns what - so this is a convenient 1 size fits all approach.

As for creating a basket of individual shorts even if I had the knowledge in this sector; I am prohibited from shorting individual names. I can only do "long" positions in the marketocracy.com account, so the Ultrashort ETFs are considered "long". It is sort of like an IRA account where you can't short individual names but you can buy these Ultrashort ETFs.

Otherwise, if I could short individually I would of been shorting a lot of restaurant stocks, a lot of retail stocks etc as I wrote back in August and September, that were gonna stink. i.e. Coach would of been a 33% return alone. I did ask the firm (if indeed a fund is created) who would help launch it (in the real world) and shorting of individual names would be allowed (which is great since most mutual funds are long only), but for now, in this simulation I am not allowed to short any 1 specific stock per the Marketocracy.com rules.

Hey Mark,You seem to be pretty spot-on in your ear...

Hey Mark,

You seem to be pretty spot-on in your early analysis as of late.
