your arguement is traditionally made when Wall Street has been on a thesis for a while, and then finally it hits the mainstream

If your belief is Wall Street has been facing the reality of all the commentary above, and owed up to it... and only now has the mainstream press picked up on it, then you should be a raging bull.

My comment is Wall Street is still in denial of just about the whole thing. Hence, its not the typical contrary indicator - in fact its the opposite. Usually Wall Street is well ahead of the game vs Main Street media. Wall Street at this point still believes its just a "subprime issue" and once that is cleaned up, we are good to go.

what I mean is main stream publication's track record is worse than tossing a coin,

why would what Newsweek or time o whatever of that ilk say matter, they may be right, they may be wrond, and so may be Larry Kudlow, who cares?

just citing newsweek adds no weight to your argument, it may even take away from it

June 9 (Bloomberg) -- Western Australia's government is scrambling to find alternative energy sources for metal producers including BHP Billiton Ltd. and Rio Tinto Group after a blast at an Apache Corp. plant cut natural-gas supplies by 30 percent.

Apache said on June 6 that its natural-gas output from Varanus Island may be halted for at least two months. Iluka Resources Ltd., the world's biggest zircon producer, and Minara Resources Ltd. are among companies that have reduced or halted output due to the crisis that's threatening production in the state that generates more than a third of Australia's exports.

Western Australia exported A$53.1 billion ($51 billion) of minerals and energy in 2007, including 16 percent of the world's iron-ore supply and 11 percent of its nickel.

The region produced 264 million tons of iron ore and 160,457 tons of nickel last year, the Department of Industry and Resources said on its Web site. World iron-ore output was 1.58 billion tons last year, according to London-based Evolution Securities Ltd., while nickel supply was about 1.4 million tons.
