There are thousands upon thousands of technical traders who can swim circles around me. I basically use moving averages and volume. It works for me, but I am sure there are many others who could improve on that methodology. My focus is on the fundamentals and simply not being stuck in a stock that has great fundamental situation for months on end while it trades below key moving averages. So yes, I like to buy breakouts since I want to churn my money as opposed to having it sit in dead stocks for months, quarters, weeks, etc. So when a stock looks ready to break out I move it off my watch list and into the fund OR from the bottom of the fund to the top. Sometimes I am wrong on my timing, and need to reverse.

Again, my technical skills pale in comparison to my fundamental work in my opinion. Even MACD I don't use - I just use it to impress readers ;) There are about 50 technical indicators as you well know - I'm a big believer in regressing value the more things you use. Simple is good. Many times one technical indicator completely counteracts another so it becomes less useful once you get past a certain point. But again, there are many experts in the field - I do not count myself as one.

Mike,I have observed that you buy stocks that are ...

Mike,
I have observed that you buy stocks that are in verge of breaking from a base or just broke out from a base.
